my-tv: Next week’s fairytale ending

Antonia O'Brien - my-tv presenter

Friday 4th July 2008 10.41 am

My first outing as the roaming fashion reporter for my-tv took place this week. Left to battle the deep dark streets of central London as we went on location was a real test - pedestrians really don’t take too much notice of film crew - it’s bizarre! Nevertheless, it was a great expereince and we’re looking forward to even more intrepid trips away from the studio, so stay tuned.

The topic at hand was a real fairytale affair which i’m happy to give you a little preview to…. so, as we all know the summer sales are well underway - but that’s old news, I hear you say! What is new, exciting and very much with a fairytale ending is the just launched my-wardrobe.com clearence department. It’s full of all sorts of fashion treats from previous collections at a ridiculous, happy ever after, 75% discount. It’s our version of a sale, in sale - the hits just keep on coming!

Have a peek before it’s too late - it’s a harsh but true reality that the early bird catches the worm - and the sale bargains in this department really shouldn’t be missed!

See you for the clearence-special my-tv on Tuesday.

my-accessories: All that glitters

my-wardrobe.com team

Thursday 3rd July 2008 10.50 am

Whether you’re moving from the beach to the bar or from the church to reception you will need versatile accessories to carry you there. This season we are seeing oversized pieces stacked high as well as delicate pieces for a more feminine finish. There’s bundles of choice and the only fashion rules to follow are your own! So, what to choose… The Muse collection is bold but ornamental. the multi chain necklace is spot-on for transforming a LBD while the flower cuffs are a great way to jazz-up your daywear. And then there’s Zoe & Morgan - a real new season favourite which we are all lusting after at my-wardrobe towers. The Pelican necklace and snake bangles are simply to-die-for. We’d suggest wearing several pieces at the same time to really show off the brand. If it’s full-on glamour you’re after, a pair of dVb gold aviators and some CC Skye bracelets should do the trick. They’re a great combination for achieving that sexy LA luxe style we all aspire to when the sun is shining - which thankfully has been the case this week… long may it continue!

my-focus: Muddy nuptials

my-wardrobe.com team

Wednesday 2nd July 2008 10.35 am

You may not think that two of summer’s main events (weddings and festivals) go hand in hand but some folk would disagree. Festival goers are embracing the hedonistic vibe of Glastonbury and getting married (albeit unofficially) on site. The popular Lost Vagueness area of the festival which was known for hosting weddings in its makeshift chapel was sadly absent this year but that didn’t halt the nuptial frivolities. Glastonbury epitomises fun liberalism so forget Vera Wang and walk down the mud-sodden aisle in chic original green Hunters and By Malene Birger’s Noelia dress for a look of festival-friendly pure romance.

What would you dare to don at a festival wedding?

my-wish list: new season must-haves

my-wardrobe.com team

Tuesday 1st July 2008 9.16 am

Here at my-wardrobe.com we often fantasise towards the end of one season and the beginning of another:  “If you could buy one thing – money no object - what would it be?”

The classic Mulberry Bayswater bags were high on the list, especially as they are new to the site and an iconic bag of the noughties.Chic, sexy and practical who could resist the temptation? The black 1950s style dress by Vivienne Westwood Anglomania is also hitting the right notes with its feminine silouette, distinctive collar and voluminous skirt. Dress it up with the new-in sultry red Georgina Goodman Adele Shoes to give Dita Von Teese a run for her money. Or else go for a French feel with a pair of classic black pumps by French Sole.

Jewellery pushes our buttons too with oversized rings and bangles from Kenneth Jay Lane and Jade Jagger’s luscious lips jewellery - such decisions!

What’s on your wishlist so far this season?

my-sale picks!

Monday 30th June 2008 10.07 am

Zip fastened clutch bag in fuschia lambskin with one inside pocket. There is a flap that fastens over the bag with a gold branded clasp.

This year my resolution was to be a “smart shopper”…that means no impulse buying for me. Well I’m happy to report that so far so good, and to ensure I stay on track, I’m…

a. Doing all of my sale shopping online to avoid any unplanned purchases
and
b. Investing in items that will carry me effortlessly from summer to autumn/winter

For footwear, I adore D&G Dolce&Gabanna’s chunky Plateva shoes. Worn this season, they’d look great with shorts and in the colder months can be paired with tights.

my-event: Back to black

my-wardrobe.com team

Friday 27th June 2008 10.58 am

Now that black is officially the new black, and summer society events are in full swing, an age old dilemma springs to the forefront of any self respecting fashionista’s mind: Is it acceptable to wear black to a wedding?

The most flattering of colours, the chicest of shades and an all time classic, the answer must be yes! Just take the lead from stylist Estee Stanley’s wedding earlier this year. The Olsen twins were bridesmaids in black and if it’s good enough for them… and then there was Charlotte’s floor length bridesmaid dress in the Sex and the City film. Two very chic examples!

my-focus: Bags of taste

my-wardrobe.com team

Thursday 26th June 2008 10.38 am

Fashion one-upmanship has long been about one accessory above any other – the bag. IT bags are seen as a status symbol as well as a style choice and the birth of a new fashion season means an enticing new array of delicious arm-candy, hooray! With Mulberry, the king of super-luxe handbags on board at my-wardrobe.com this season, you’re in for a tough choice. One that you won’t be able to keep your paws off is the brand new Poppy bag. The striking hardware, mouth-watering shade of orange and unique biker-esque detailing pack a mean style punch. Guaranteed to make autumn that little bit brighter.

What’s your Mulberry of choice this autumn?

my-dilemma: fashion versus football

my-wardrobe.com team

Wednesday 25th June 2008 10.44 am

We’re sure like many women you’ve been unable to avoid the football over the past few weeks - the European Championships have officially kidnapped our men and even some of our girl friends (apparently, not all girls are adverse to the beautiful game!). Now, this is a huge disappoinment. Many of us at my-wardrobe HQ assumed we’d have a football free social life - England didn’t even qualify so what’s all the fuss? But no such luck. Nevertheless, we embraced the competition and while watching Spain grab their victory in the Italy match earlier this week, it got us thinking about - you guessed it - fashion! Would Spain have won in a fashion showdown at my-wardrobe.com? [Read more →]

my-Life : Walk like an Egyptian

Wednesday 25th June 2008 10.29 am

So back from Egypt, the memories of poolside lounging are now a distant memory and the tan already feels as though it deserted me at Cairo airport. There are bonuses however, thanks to a lapse of concentration during my Egyptian stay, I found myself brushing my teeth with tap water… [Read more →]

my-event: Wimbledon fortnight

my-wardrobe.com team

Monday 23rd June 2008 10.36 am

Tennis fever has hit my-wardrobe HQ as the world’s most glamorous female tennis players including Maria Sharapova, Ana Ivanovic and the Williams’ sisters, descended onto London for the star-studded pre-Winbledom party at the Kensington Roof Gardens last Thursday. Our very own PR director Lauren Cleak (to the left of the picture with friend) - dressed to the nines in the super chic See by Chloe cream sequin dress, gold platforms and the By Malene Birger oversized clutch - went along to kick-start the tennis season in style.
