I’ve never been one of those girls with constant crushes on boys (apart from Luke ‘90210′ Perry when I was 13, and now my husband - of course), but I do have to plead guilty to having frequent fashion crushes. These are either for items I’m lusting after or for a female celebrity whose style inspires me. Not that I’m into the copycat game - I think everybody needs to find their own personal style - but I love seeing how celebs (or most often their stylists) put together their ‘looks’. And working at instyle.co.uk provides me with the perfect opportunity to do some serious celebrity spotting.

Last week’s crush was chunky bejewelled necklaces - move over It-bags, jewellery is the new designer must-have!

The week before that it was gladiator sandals (low, high and everything inbetween).

This week’s crush, I must confess, is Ashley Olsen. Yes, she’s a young one, and I do admit that she isn’t your typical Hollywood beauty (and looks a little like a cyborg as my husband likes to put it!), but she is the perfect mix of avant-garde fashionista and classic sophisticate. Take that dreamy Calvin Klein tux she wore to the CFDA Awards last week. It was chic and timeless, but just the right amount of trendy thanks to the peg-leg trousers - this season’s hottest new shape.

And as the late, great, Yves Saint Laurent was one of my favourite designers EVER, it seems only appropriate to pay homage to the man who first put women in tuxes by investing in an elegant evening jacket. I already own a winter number in velvet and a high street version, but both are black so I thought I’d go for white - perfect for summer and winter. The Calandra jacket from Sienna and Savannah Miller’s twenty8twelve label is the perfect candidate.

Who knows what will be next week’s obsession? I better start saving my pennies now…
