Now that black is officially the new black, and summer society events are in full swing, an age old dilemma springs to the forefront of any self respecting fashionista’s mind: Is it acceptable to wear black to a wedding?

The most flattering of colours, the chicest of shades and an all time classic, the answer must be yes! Just take the lead from stylist Estee Stanley’s wedding earlier this year. The Olsen twins were bridesmaids in black and if it’s good enough for them… and then there was Charlotte’s floor length bridesmaid dress in the Sex and the City film. Two very chic examples!

This seasons LBDs come in all shapes and sizes and are perfect for a variery of weddings. The black tie wedding (so black’s a given, right?) was made for the uber elegant Flower trapeze dress by La Petite S***** - show stopping style glammed up with cocktail rings by Kenneth Jay Lane. If it’s a beach wedding this year, go for boho elegance a la Kate and Co with the Tagada dress by Manoush and Rain earrings from Citrine by the Stones topped off with a sunkissed tan. There is even a choice for a more traditional wedding with the Grecian inspired dress by Goldhawk- just team with a Nikki clutch by CC Skye.

Would you wear black to a wedding?
